lynda.com is an online tutorial service that provides individuals with technical training in whatever fields they may lack it. lynda.com provides high-quality instructional videos covering a wide variety of subjects. Online courses offered range from Microsoft Office to web design, business to home computing, documentaries to photography, and so much more.
lynda.com’s videos can range in scope from one-time tutorials to full courses. You can even work towards earning a certificate if you’d like! The self-paced courses allow you to take as much time as you need to fully understand the fundamentals of anything you’d like to study. Plus, you can enjoy the convenience of studying anytime and anywhere you’d like. This versatile website can have a number of practical applications for the USF community; for example, those students who attend regional campuses and can’t make it to the CIT for training now have lynda.com as a training tool. Also, all members of the community can take these courses and receive certificates for highly marketable technological training. As John Bansavich, Director of Learning Technologies and the Center for Instruction and Technology, put it, “This is a great service for everybody — faculty, staff, and students!”
Bansavich has supported lynda.com for about three years now. He originally had a small number of licenses available for students who wished to use lynda.com; however, they were in such high demand that those licenses proved to be too few to serve the entire USF community. Now lynda.com is available to all students, faculty and staff through USFconnect.
Simply login to USFconnect and click on the Learning Technologies tab. You will see an icon for lynda.com on the left-side of the screen.
Once you click on it, you can start browsing lynda.com!
This service, designed to increase the professional development of the USF community. For more information or questions, email the CIT at firstname.lastname@example.org.
